Soybean Yield Challenge

Is your field up to the challenge? Pick you favourite variety and your best field and try your hand at the great prizes in the Soybean Yield Challenge.

This year's challenge is split into two divisions, an IP division, brought to you by DuPont and a non-IP division brought you you by Monsanto.

Great Prizes
  • Grand Prize - a trip for two to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky
    • Awarded to the overall best yield in both the IP and non-IP divisions (total of 2 winners)
  • Cash prize - $10 x yield (bushels)
    • Awarded to each winner in each zone in each divisions (total of 6 winners)
  • Farm show admission - admission to Canada's Outdoor Farm Show and a local farm show (London, Toronto, Ottawa)
    • Awarded to each zone winner and each zone runner up in each division (total of 12 winners
3 Provincial Zones
  • Zone 1 - 2700 CHU and under
  • Zone 2 - 2750 to 3000 CHU
  • Zone 3 - 3025 CHU and above
The Rules
  • Field size must be a minimum of 10 acres and the harvested plot must be a minimum of 1.5 acres of the same field
  • Any and all production practices are permitted
  • Conventioanl or GM soybean seed can be used, however, the variety must be certified seed
  • Weights must be taken at the field location at the time of harvest or, if facilities exist, the crop may be weighed in a regular wagon as long as the weight of the wagon itself is subtracted from the total
  • All entrants will be required to complete a short survey
  • This contest is open to all soybean farmers in Ontario (Grain Farmers of Ontario Directors, staff and immediate families are restricted from the competition)
  • One entry per farm business per division
