Goals & Objectives

Goal
To target our research and innovation to opportunities that will enhance our farmer members’ returns.

Strategies

  • Invest GFO funds in research areas or projects of high priority to farmer members
  • Influence research priority setting in the grain sector
  • Encourage private sector investment in research that provides benefits to farmer members on production challenges and crop quality
  • Maximize the public sector research investment in the grain sector
  • Ensure that GFO plays an active role in supporting the commercialization of relevant research results
Investment in research is a long-term strategic initiative of the GFO for the benefit of all corn, soybean and wheat farmers. Ontario’s grain farmers have sponsored and participated in decades of practical research that has resulted in economic gains for Ontario farmers. The GFO Research Committee selects and funds projects that target the most important issues in the categories of Market Development and Quality, Breeding and Genetics, Agronomy and Production, and Diseases and Insects.
